When B.B. was young he had surprising speed up and down the fretboard. His vibrato was always in a class by itself. RIP BB King 👑🎸🕊️

⁹want to play à solo? Listen how to never do the same thing exactly twice! Play rythm, ans stay stuck to the beat and the drummer, and fir choristes, just the melody. Now we have just to find our own tonnes. Btw this solo among other on the same tune is absolutely exception nal. Unexpected after so many .

Maybe it was removed because she sued Martha and Jimmie to collect from Stevie's estate, and lost. And this was AFTER they renewed the lease on her Manhattan apartment for a year after Steve died. Stevie was never about the money. He put people, first.

@@JeanVaughan-Staley I just don't like to see footage cut up like this. It happened. Let people see it. I really don't understand the suing the estate though. It's not like they were married.

Man, BB is such a class act and so good for the soul. The King lives on in my heart after listening to him for 50 years of my life - back when I studied every lick, playing along with the records. I saw him live twice in the 70s and then the 80s and his fans were of all ages and races.

Listen to these instruments talk! These are the blues musicians others aspire to be. They have no peers in my humble opinion. Have watched this and "our last time" literally hundreds of times. This is my attitude adjustment music.

After playing for 20 years I’m just getting back into bb. So much to learn and reference from. He’s not playing the most difficult notes either which makes it more fun because it’s encouraging to guitar players. It’s all in his expression and “simple” but elegant phrasing. Everyone needs some bb in their life. All about the feel, expression, passion, style and it’s really not about how many notes you play or not play. It’s HOW you play it! He’s so fun to watch and listen to. If you’re ever stuck or in a plateau playing guitar… watch some bb and you’ll feel better and totally inspired.

Notice how, when B B is noodling his way though those lines, the band backs off because he's not actually playing though the changes. They have no idea where's he's going. When the band comes back in B B is then limited to chord tones again. His band were masters of sitting out lol.

The key change here at 2:10 is just beautiful. The guy NEVER played chords, but if he did, I would imagine they would sound as sweet as these solos. One of the least complicated players, but also more effective in his portrayal of electric blues than just about anyone. The quivering vibrato, string bends, the volume of his attack, the trills, the tone of that sweet Lucille, and BB’s facial expressions-It’s all a part of the gift.

Man he's got a patent on them swooping leads.. That's why I always loved "Drowning on Dry Land", from my favorite Albert King album, bar none: "Years Gone By". Fun fact: You notice how he's always going to the amp to adjust the settings? Well, that's what he used to have to do when he was on the chitlin circuit, since as the clubs got busier, the guitar didn't cut through as much. However, once miking amps becamer the norm, he continued the practice, twiddling the amp controls until he got a sound he was happy with. Unfortunately, this drove soundmen batty having to balance everything on the fly. What's more, even though he was more often than not the source of balance problems , he'd tear into his backup musicians about "being too loud". It got so bad that one of the bass players had to turn down his amp repeatedly until he and the audience could barely hear him. Even after this he still got canned. This was before bass amps were regularly miked (or direct) into the PA. However, the worst treatment was reserved for the backup guitar players. If Albert was out of tune (sometimes wildly out) he'd sometimes stop the song and make the hapless guitarist tune his guitar until Albert was happy with it , all the while berating him for not even being able to tune a guitar.. And it would happen over and over, because Albert was *still* out of tune. The poor guitarist, who had probably waited for years for the chance to play with Albert King, would end up so dejected and embaressed, that sometimes they would leave the stage in tears.. I guess that's why they always say never meet your heroes! Thankfully, that didn''t happen all the time!

I saw BB in the late 90s, he was phenomenal. But i remember he let his back up guitarist take a solo. I think he was the same guy in this video, he was really good. Super Jazzy. BB then said the guy had been giving him lessons, and proceeded to play some really good Jazz lines id never heard him do. I dont know if the thing about the lessons was true or not, but i thought it was so cool that he put some shine on the other guy.

I remember over 25 years ago, both my grandfather's had a bb king VHS tape. They would always play it for me when I was around 3 years old. I always knew I wanted to play guitar after that. My grandad bought me my first electric at 13 and first thing I wanted to learn was the great bb king. Thank you bb king and both my pops for showing me such beautiful music. I'm now 32 and hope to teach my daughter guitar when she is old enough.

German TV series "Ohne Filter". All acts had to play 100% live. For years I was able to visit many shows and rehearsals and thus have seen very many great artists, ca. 6 artist per show. SRV, Chris Rea, Al DiMeola, Larry Carlton, Chaka Khan, James Taylor, me sitting an arm length away from their feet, free admission, free beer. What an experience! I missed Duke´s show, unfortunately.
